Today the Cantina della Serra has approximately 230 members with the possibility of supplying about 10000 quintals of grapes, around 4000q of Erbaluce (white grapes), and 6000q of Barbera, Nebbiolo, Croatina and Neretto (red grapes); All these grapes will produce about 8000 hectoliters of wine which 70% DOCG and DOC, the remainder is used for everyday wine.
The total surface under vines cultivated by the members is 150 hectares and about 110 are registered as DOCG and DOC.
The vineyards extended for the majority of the municipalities of the Serra d’Ivrea, on a morenic soil, with an exposition of the south-west side, most of the vineyards are terraced to prevent erosion and permit cultivation even in high slopes. All of these reasons are the perfect ingredients to obtain high quality grapes.
The commitment continues in our historical building that is our cellar. The edifice accommodates several wood barrels in different sizes (used to refine the most prestigious wines), the stainless steel tank (the modern technology of vinification), refrigerators to control the wine’s temperature, a bottling machine and last but not least the new bottling machine for bag in box wine.
Since 2010 the photovoltaic system has provided a huge help in reducing the greenhouse effect.
